The HVAC unit, located behind the dashboard, is out of sight, so unless the evaporator needs to be replaced, the unit usually receives no maintenance. What you don’t see is the foam used to seal the damper doors and block airflow through the heater core, turning to powder. You also don’t see all the debris that has been collecting inside the unit for years, which results in several problems, including clogging the condensate drain, which can cause water to drain under the carpet; clogging the evaporator, which reduces efficiency; and providing a perfect breeding ground for mold. If you have to remove the unit for whatever reason, it’s highly recommended to have it cleaned and restored. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHVAC Unit Restoration Service includes the following:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eUpon arrival, the unit is inspected. If any problems are found, the owner is immediately contacted to discuss what needs to be done to remedy the problem.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eDisassembly of the unit.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThorough cleaning of the interior and exterior of the housing.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eRemoval of all the foam and neoprene from the housing and damper doors.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eInstall new foam on the damper doors.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eReassemble the unit and install new foam and neoprene seals surrounding the housing’s ventilation openings. (5 different types of foam are used throughout the unit)\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eInstall a new evaporator and expansion valve.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePressure test heater core.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eTest and adjust as required the three damper door motors.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNote: The ventilation fan will require new foam on the single damper door, and neoprene seals on the mounting flanges. As part of the restoration new foam and neoprene will be provided, along with instructions.
